Rescuing a cop from a burning precinct is in Max’s job description; falling in love was never part of the deal.

Max Harrison moved from the city to take up a role as assistant to the mayor, while also a volunteer firefighter. When he meets Finn Ryan in Ellery, he falls in lust that burns as hot as the fires an arsonist is setting in town.

Finn Ryan is a cop, and somehow he’s attracted trouble. Going back into a fire to rescue the town drunk is just the start. Now he has to rely on the man he’s falling for to make sure it doesn’t end with him dying.

4 out of 5 (very good)

The Fireman and The Cop is the first book in the Ellery Mountain series by R.J. Scott. In this first story, we meet up with Max, who has just moved from the city, and is working for the mayor as well as being a volunteer firefighter. Within a day of his arrival, he is rescuing a cop from a burning police station. Flynn is a born and bred Ellery Mountaineer, and is very thankful to be rescued. It is safe to say that he and Max have an explosive beginning, along with some tongue-in-cheek humour 😊 There is a small mystery also going on, as Max and Flynn find out, although it isn't anything to really tax or distract you as you enjoy how their relationship hots up.

This story has a high feel-good factor, as well as being steamy in places. It is well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. It is only a quick read, so perfect for a lunch break or coffee break. Looking forward to returning to Ellery Mountain. Definitely recommended by me.

Soldier, Daniel Skylar, falls hard and heavy for school teacher Luke Fitzgerald. How can he make him stay in Ellery?

Luke Fitzgerald left Ellery Mountain for college and vowed never to come back. When his abusive father is murdered, he has no choice but to return. Luke only goes home to sell off his share of the Ellery Mountain Cabins, but everything changes when he meets the son of the other owner. Daniel Skylar lives every day to the limit and sees a future in Luke.

It doesn’t matter what Daniel says, or how much he needs Luke. Luke isn’t staying once everything is sold off. Surely Daniel can understand that what they have between them is just a two-week fling; there is no way it could be love.

Can Daniel persuade Luke that they are in love, and they can build a future together?

4 out of 5 (very good)

The Teacher & The Soldier is the second in the Ellery Mountain series, and immediately isn't as 'funny' as book one. This is because it is dealing with a serious subject in PTSD! Whilst the story mentions this, it doesn't take over the story of Daniel and Luke, but rather helps to emphasise why people react in certain ways.

Daniel already has his network around him, that has now expanded to include Max. Luke only has Zach - his cheating ex that has become his friend. Although Luke didn't have a good time with Zach due to his own issues, I loved how this was written. Zach is a supporting character, but he is witty, warm, and caring. I hope that he turns up in later books, and I'm sure he needs a HEA of his own.

Very different to book one, but that is not a negative comment in any way! Very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, this was an ideal short read. Definitely recommended by me.

Jason is running from tragedy, hiding in Ellery, but it’s only when he meets Kieran that he finds love.

Jason McInnery, hounded by the paparazzi after his brother’s death, runs to the one place where he hopes people won’t sell him out. The place where he was born. Hiding in the tourist cabins at Ellery Mountain Resort out of season, he thinks he finally has room to breathe.

Kieran Dexter is a man who knows what he wants; gorgeous actor Jason tied up and begging. When the hottest sex he’s ever had turns to feelings of love, he’s faced with convincing Jason to give them a try and stay in Ellery.

4 out of 5 (very good)

The Carpenter & The Actor is the third book in the Ellery Mountain series, and it's Kieran's turn to spotlight! This 5'9" bundle of joy has seen his two best friends find love, but he has no inclination to follow them. However, that choice is taken away from him when Jason turns up in Ellery, looking for a time out from his brother's death.

The thing that I am thoroughly enjoying with this series, is that every story is different! You might not get a HEA, but you will definitely get a HFN. This works so well considering that these are novellas, but you still get a little epilogue to tease you with.

Finn, Max, Daniel, and Luke, all make an appearance (as you would expect), and help Kieran out when he needs it. Very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, this book is a great addition to the series, and definitely recommended by me.
